Acupuncture & Medicine Words

A practitioner of traditional acupuncture since 1973, Dianne lovingly partners with her clients to create powerful healing shifts inside the treatment room and in their daily lives. She co-founded one of the first acupuncture clinics in the state and the country and is Co-Founder, Chancellor Emeritus, and Senior Faculty at Tai Sophia Institute in Laurel, Maryland. She is a nationally certified Diplomate of Acupuncture and a licensed acupuncturist in the state of Maryland.

In addition to being a pioneer of acupuncture, Dianne is highly regarded for her expertise in the power of language and lovingly partners her clients in the use of words as medicine.  She is a devoted advocate and practitioner of rituals, ceremonies and celebrations, and has completed advanced studies in poetry and the biology of cognition.

She earned a doctorate in Cross-Cultural Medicine from Union Graduate School in 1975 and a master’s qualification from the College of Traditional Acupuncture in the United Kingdom in 1979. She earned a master’s degree at NYU’s School of Education and a bachelor’s degree from Le Moyne College.

Dianne is the author of the international bestseller Traditional Acupuncture: The Law of the Five Elements (1975) as well as All Sickness is Homesickness (1986), Medicine Words: Language of Love for the Treatment Room of Life (2009), and with Katherine Hancock Porter, Alive and Awake: Wisdom for Kids (2003).

She lectures and conducts workshops nationally and internationally, including the very popular Redefining Health.  Dianne is mother of Blaize, Jade, and Caeli and grandmother to Tamar, Lennox, Rianna, Roman, and Maxim.
